North Carolina Day Hikes

There are some wonderful hiking opportunities all across North Carolina.  From the depths of Linville Gorge to the tops of the Balsam Mountain range ... there's trails that everyone can enjoy.

Notes:
  • For Linville Gorge & Wilson Creek Wilderness Areas I highly recommend downloading Avenza and using the wilderness maps in there.
  • I've seen more bears in Bent Creek than any other area I've hiked in ... just use caution (all the ones I've seen ran away from me).
  • Most wilderness area trails are not blazed or marked ... be prepared when attempting to hike in those areas.
  • In GSMNP ... you now are required to have a parking permit to hike in the park.  https://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/fees.htm#11/35.5959/-83.4992
