Maine is a rugged place but so beautiful!  

• You've got to plan ahead for Baxter - they require permits for everything.  It's also not pet friendly.  There's a kennel in Millinocket that comes highly recommended.  I used a small kennel - Furever Friends Doggie Daycare in Lincoln for Sally.  I'd recommend it as well.

• I highly recommend starting as early as possible to give yourself enough time to summit Katahdin!
